Mesothelioma affects the lining around the internal organs in the human body, including the heart, lungs, and abdominal cavity. There are three types of Mesothelioma, which is determined by the type of lining that is affected. The following is a description of these three types:

  • Pleural Mesothelioma - Affects the lining of the lungs
  • Peritoneal Mesothelioma - Affects the lining of the abdominal cavity
  • Pericardial Mesothelioma - Affect the lining of the heart

Each type of Mesothelioma has varying associated symptoms and can go undiagnosed because these symptoms are confused with other diseases that present with very similar symptoms.

Due to this disease's severity and the neglect of various organizations to notify their employees of their exposure to asbestos, there have been numerous lawsuits in the United States from individuals who have either themselves or have a loved one who has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma.
